The Appalachian Regional Commission and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation - Children's Oral Health Grant (West Virginia)
The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation have teamed up to fund a grant for children's oral health in West Virginia. The award is aimed at increasing access to preventative dental services for youth in West Virginia through school-community partnerships.
Grant awards range from $15,000 to $22,000. To be eligible, proposed programs must include: a partnership of at least two community-based organizations, one of which must be a 501(c)(3) or governmental agency; a sealant portion focused on 2nd/3rd and 6th grades; a fluoride program; referral for establishment of a dental home for each child; and willingness to participate in a statewide outcome evaluation and a 24-month activity plan. Priority will be given to ARC-identified distressed counties within West Virginia.
